Chakin is a cloth used to wipe tea bowls.
Linen cloth such as Nara-zarashi is often used, and the size varies depending on the style and purpose.
Omotesenke and Urasenke chakin are 1 shaku (30.3 cm) long and 5 sun (15.2 cm) wide.
Mushakoji Senke chakin is made from hemp cloth with a width of 30.3 cm, cut into a length of 3.3 cm (12.5 cm). Overlock stitches are used in the opposite direction so that the folded seam allowance is visible, and the front and back are not the same.
The brown cloth is considered to be a true brown cloth if the edges are not sewn.
